Environmental Scanning

Environmental Scanning is the systematic process of collecting and analyzing information for the purposes of planning, forecasting, or choosing a preferred future. Scanning is a process containing many tools and methods and the type of scanning that is done at an institution is as wide and varied as the institution at which it resides. Below you will find information and activities that are in progress in the area of information gathering and retrieval.

Activities

GRCC Dynamic Scan: Data and links useful for planning and futuring. Items are selected based on their propensity for being an opportunity or threat to Grand Rapids Community College.

Focused Scan: A focused scan is a concentrated search for information and data on a specific subject. Focused scans can be provided for any GRCC staff member.

ScaNotes: ScaNotes is a weekly newsletter that highlights the effect of technology on teaching and learning.

Consultation: Consultation is available for those wishing to implement a scanning process.
