Introduction to the Internet
(Using Internet Explorer or Netscape)

Description

This course will provide students with the essential knowledge and skill required to navigate through the World Wide Web, locate information, and use the popular features of a browser (Netscape Communicator or Internet Explorer).

Outcome Summary

Participant will be able to:

• Identify the software and hardware required to connect to the Internet (NACFAM CT 7, CT 8, CT 9)
• Understand basic Internet concepts and terminology
• Identify the main components of the browser application window
• Access web sites and navigate through Web pages
• Work with the browser toolbars to access time saving features and perform commonly used operations
• Use the browser’s on-line help system
• Learn and apply search techniques for finding information on the World Wide Web
• Personalize the browser working environment by customizing the settings
• Download and unzip files from the Internet

Individuals who would like to learn and apply fundamental concepts and skills in working with the Internet.

Length

This course can be customized as a 1/2 day (4 hour) or full day (7 hour) class depending upon customer needs.

Prerequisites

Participants should understand basic concepts in working with a personal computer.
