Basic Keyboarding Skills

Description

Students will achieve basic keyboarding skills working in a personalized, self-paced environment with the instructor serving as a coach and facilitator.

Outcome Summary

Participant will be able to:

  • Become proficient with the typing software and the use of the mouse for selected keyboard and software functions (NACFAM requirement to meet any CU standards)
  • Master alphabetic letters, numbers, and basic punctuation marks using proper keyboarding techniques (NACFAM CT 19)
  • Type 12-20 words per minutes at a minimum of 90% accuracy (those who are brushing up will type 15-30 words per minute at 90% accuracy)
  • Evaluate keyboarding progress by using the reporting functions of the typing software, and create their own custom lessons that will focus on improving areas of typing difficulty

Who Should Attend

Individuals who want to gain fundamental typing skills, or review the basics.

Length

A minimum "hands-on" lab time of 15-20 hours. 

Prerequisites

Students should have some experience with a personal computer.

Learning Environment

Instructor facilitated, self-paced class with structured hands-on learning activities.
