Fluid Power Dry Technology

Description

Depending on the course length and customer requirements, this course can include: hydraulic seals, pneumatic seals, material selection, critical operating environment issues, gland design, troubleshooting, sizing and special elastomers. Demonstrates a working knowledge of sealing principles (ISO/QS 9000 4.4).

Outcome Summary

Participant will be able to:

  • Successfully complete fluid power calculations using Pascal’s Law (NCFAM MM3)
  • Successfully inspect glands and mating surfaces by visual means (NCFAM QA 2)
  • Demonstrate a logical approach to troubleshooting sealing failures (NCFAM PS2, PS3, MF21,QA17)
  • Use charts to select proper seal sizes and materials. (NCFAM MM5, MM6, MM10)
  • Execute mathematical design criteria (ISO/QS 9000 4.4.1, 4.4.4)
  • Verbalize, list and understand all appropriate safety issues (NCFAM WH 1-20, MF10)

Recommendation

Contact Business & Technical Training at least 1 month in advance to set up a plant tour with the instructor. It would be a good idea to confer with your maintenance department about any sealing issues you may have. If the class is to be held on the customers site, some arrangements should be made to take the class out onto the production floor.

Who Should Attend

All maintenance supervisors and/or personnel, field service reps., and anyone moving into the fluid power design field.

Length

This course can be custom designed to occupy from 2 to 20 hours, depending on the customers’ needs.

Prerequisites

The successful attendee will be very comfortable with algebraic expressions using both numbers and units.  It would also be an advantage to have intermediate blueprint reading skills.
