Basics of Quality & Statistical Process Control
Description
This interactive CD ROM was developed in cooperation
with the State of Michigan and is part of the Michigan Virtual University
course offering. This self-paced Windows-based training is based on national
skill standards and has ten modules featuring full motion video, animations,
interactive exercises and on-line testing.
Outcome Summary
Participant will be able to:
- Define and apply quality concepts
- Define, calculate and understand profit
- Identify effect quality has on profit and reputation
- Demonstrate basic understanding of manufacturing and its history
- Define and compare various quality systems
- Demonstrate the concepts of a continuous quality improvement system:
goal setting, numbers and measures, charts and teams
- Participate in a CQI process using process map, histogram, problem-solving
techniques and fishbone diagrams
- Define statistical process control
- Understand variations, common and special causes, and sampling
- Calculate a sample mean and range
- Plot data using an R chart
- Determine, using an R chart, if a process is out of control
- Detect production trends using an R chart
