The Older Learner Center offers adults 55 and older opportunities for life-long learning and life enrichment, including the Senior Computer Club, Senior Health Club and Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Educational Support Group. The Older Learner Center also produces Successful Aging, an award winning television program that is distributed nationally on video and broadcast on cable stations throughout Michigan; administers a number of community-wide program initiatives including Senior Leadership Grand Rapids, and the Grand/Kent Community Consortium on Successful Aging; has a leadership role in the Kent County Caregiver Resource Network and Greater Grand Rapids End of Life Coalition; and sponsors public forums, conferences, trainings and events within the community on issues relating to an aging America.

Heartland Hospice Services provides care to patients in their home, hospice facility, nursing care facility or alternative living setting. Our interdisciplinary team is made up of professionals who address the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient and family. The team includes the Hospice Medical Director, nurses, counselors, therapists, volunteers, chaplains and social workers. The team concentrates on providing comfort, pain and symptom management and emotional support. Together with the patient and family they develop an individualized care plan that is monitored and updated regularly, and adjusted it to meet the patient’s needs.
